8 hours plugging away and figuring out what needs to be in the game. Chillin.
Button2 is now always a square of an appropriate size, stops scaling at certain points. Button1's scaling at large screen widths has been fixed up, an issue of an incorrect variable. Created the upgrades menu. Discovered how to set a game's aspect ratio / resolution which I failed to find when I was working on Mario. It would have been very useful then. Came up with a wildly better way of moving UI objects based on button presses. Applied that to all 3 buttons and the upgrades menu. Upgrades menu scrolls, it moves on and off screen as summoned. Learned a lot. I have the upgrade presentation formatting set up, but I don't know my upgrades yet. Brain stormed up a torrent of upgrade ideas, they will start getting implemented the next time I work (tomorrow maybe?).
